The Associate Board is comprised of 100 emerging business and civic leaders who are committed to raising funding support and increasing the awareness and ongoing success of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago through beneficiary events and volunteer programs. Members are able to get involved in several ways. They can volunteer at the hospital, become representatives on hospital committees or work on one of the fundraising events the Associate Board hosts each year. Each fall around 500 guests attend the Associate Board’s black tie gala, the “Bearcat Ball”. The event includes dancing, a silent auction and honors the “Tree of Life” award recipient. Finally, the AB hosts a juried art exhibit, “ArtFutura”, each spring to benefit art therapy programming at the hospital. Since its inception in 1990, the Associate Board has raised almost $2 million to support Pediatric Charity Care, Therapeutic Recreation and the Virginia Wadsworth Wirtz Sports Center . For 18 consecutive years, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago has been ranked the #1 rehabilitation hospital in American by US News and World Report. The Associate Board works to help RIC achieve its vision of advancing human ability.
